Saturday Plant Sale
The UCI Arboretum hosts its next Saturday plant sale on Saturday, January 23, 2010
The UCI Arboretum is a specialist in unusual and easy to grow plants from California, Mexico, and South Africa. We offer a variety of perennials, shrubs, succulents, and blooming bulbs. Our selection for this sale typically includes California natives such as Ceanothus, Heuchera, and Yucca, succulents such as Echeveria, Aloe, and Sedum, and blooming bulbs such as cobra lily (Chasmanthe ssp.), Cape cowslip (Lachenalia varieties), and many other items. Advice on selection and care is available from our staff and experienced gardeners among our volunteers.
Admission is free for this event. There is ample free parking directly adjacent to the Arboretum.

Winter Bulb Festival
The UCI Arboretum presents ‘Prelude to Spring,’ our annual Winter Bulb Festival, on Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, March 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This popular annual event features our beautiful South African bulb garden, filled with rare and exotic bulbs from South Africa. Species of Gladiolus, Moraea, Babiana, Allium, and many other bulbs are in full bloom from early March to late April. Experts from the UC Master Gardeners are on hand to answer questions about the gardens.
Besides the bulb garden, enjoy early blooms in our California gardens, including bulbs, perennials and wildflowers. Late aloes and early agaves in our succulent gardens should be in bloom, plus early bloomers in our South African Perennial Garden.
Our nursery staff hosts a plant sale featuring perennials, succulents, and a selection of potted, blooming species from our South African bulb garden. We emphasize unique and easy to grow items perfect for Southern California gardens, plus a selection of plants for the more experienced gardener.
Admission to this event is $2.00 per person, with children under 12 free. There is ample free parking directly adjacent to the Arboretum.

April Showers of Flowers
The UCI Arboretum hosts its annual ‘April Showers of Flowers’ plant sale on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The sale features early spring perennials, bulbs, and succulents. Guests can choose from many unique and easy to grow plants for their gardens. Expert volunteers can assist with selection and care.
Featured items at this sale include the beautiful Natal Fairy Lily (Scilla natalensis), varieties of Corn Lily (Ixia species), Babiana and other bulbs. Succulents including various Echverias, Sedums, Kalenchoes and Aloes are perfect for the gardener looking for water thrifty plants. Perennials include various Pelargoniums, Arctotis, Salvias, and other unique selections.
Admission and parking are free for this event.
